USAID's Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance

USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA) is the U.S. government's lead agency for international disaster assistance, reaching tens of millions worldwide each year with life-saving aid. As part of its Digital Communications team, it is our job to find creative ways to educate the public about our life-saving work. Here is some of the work I’ve done.

We Stand Ready (End of Year Wrap-up Video)

The client wanted a fresh and updated Year-End video showcasing images and videos captured throughout the year, contributed by partners and colleagues. Collaborating with colleagues in D.C., we recorded voice-overs for the first time, adding emotional depth to the video.

Programs Used: Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition

World Humanitarian Day 2024

World Humanitarian Day (WHD) is a campaign led by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). Each year, WHD focuses on a theme, bringing together partners from across the humanitarian system to advocate for the survival, well-being, and dignity of people affected by crises and for the safety and security of aid workers. The client (BHA) emphasizes key figures and facts regarding the safety of humanitarian aid workers, who face daily risks while providing life-saving assistance.

I led the creative team through this year's campaign. We established a brand motif that sets the stage for the accompanying graphics. We created a “ticker” displaying the number of aid workers who had been victims of violence. Additionally, we developed a series of social media pictograms featuring facts and images.

Programs Used: Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects

Flash Flood Animation

The client requested an animation illustrating the dangers of flash floods during hurricanes as part of our Hurricane Season Preparedness social media campaign.

World Toilet Day Animation

World Toilet Day is held every year on the 19th of November to celebrate toilets and raise awareness of people living without access to safely managed sanitation. This animation was updated with modern techniques, featuring smoother water droplets flowing from the toilet to transforming the cellphone into a toilet. It was a collaborative effort among the design team, as we aimed to address various aspects of the animation.

Careers at BHA Website

The client wanted an updated design for our career website, so I collaborated with our web developer and team to create a clean, modern appearance for both desktop and mobile devices.
